You Can Help
Dear Friend
I would like you to meet nine year old Kim. He's been staying at Interval House for the last few days with his Mom and his sister. His parents were fighting again and this time Dad broke Mom's arm. It wasn't the first time Kim had seen his Dad hurt his Mom, but this time was really scary. The police came to their house and told his Mom about a safe place they could all stay for a while and his Mom brought them here.
Kim's all mixed up right now. He's glad his Mom will be ok and he doesn't like it when his parents fight, but he doesn't really understand why they had to leave. None of his friends ever had to go away like this and the same stuff probably goes on in their houses. His house is no different than any of his friends', or is it? They never really talked about this stuff.
Stats show that many of Kim's friends are seeing the same sort of thing in their homes. The reality is that they have been taught that this is the way to live. We also know Kim is likely to grow up and continue this cycle of violence. Katie will put up with the same treatment her Mom did. That is, unless we can break the cycle.
Saskatoon Interval House has been helping families like Kim's for over twenty-five years. Tremendous financial pressures are reshaping the amount of service Interval House is able to provide. Your financial support is a vital key to wiping out this appalling problem.
